Frequently Asked Questions

Why are some words missing from my results?

The tool relies on the Datamuse API, which has a limit of 1,000 results per query. For long or unusual letter combinations, very obscure or archaic words may occasionally fall outside the top results. We use a two-pass search strategy to minimize this, but edge cases exist. If you believe a common word is missing, please let us know.

Is this tool completely free?

Yes, completely free. No account is required, there is no subscription, and there are no limits on the number of searches you can perform. The tool is supported by advertising.

Does the tool work for languages other than English?

Currently the tool is optimized for English only. The Datamuse API and the Free Dictionary API that power results and definitions are English-language services. Support for other languages may be considered in a future update.

Can I use results in official Scrabble tournaments?

The tool uses standard English dictionary vocabulary, but for official tournament Scrabble play, always verify results against the official word list in use at your event — TWL (Tournament Word List) for North American Scrabble, or Collins/SOWPODS for international and UK play. This tool is designed for practice and assistance, not as a final arbiter.

Do you store my searches?

No. Searches are processed entirely in your browser using public APIs. We do not log, store, or associate your letter inputs with any identifier. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

Why do definitions sometimes fail to load?

Definitions are pulled from the Free Dictionary API, a third-party service. Some valid words — particularly obscure terms, abbreviations, or very recent additions to the lexicon — may not yet have entries in their database. This is a known limitation of the service.

What is the maximum number of letters I can enter?

The tool currently supports up to 10 letters at a time. This limit exists to keep search performance fast and responsive while still covering the vast majority of real-world use cases, including a standard 7-tile Scrabble rack plus a few board letters.
